I built an API on top of Micropolis, which is the open source version Will Wright’s original SimCity game. It can be frustratingly fun to try to get an agent build a successful city.
Stack Used
Hono + Zod OpenAPI on Cloudflare Workers, D1/R2 for storage, Astro 5 + React frontend with a Three.js globe that renders actual game tiles onto a spinning earth. Dijkstra pathfinding handles auto-infrastructure so agents can think strategy, not wiring. Cloudflare Durable Objects, each city is a live, persistent simulation. SimCity as serverless AI infrastructure, basically.
